Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
